What causes acne?

There is no exact cause for acne. There are several factors that doctors believe cause this problem for many people. One of those important factors is the hormone level in the body. The hormones are called androgens and increase in both boys and girls during puberty. This is why there are so many pre-teens and teens dealing with acne, are given some form of acne medication to treat it.

Another cause of acne is genetics. If a child has a parent who dealt with many acne problems as a child, chances are they will too. When a pre-teen or teen sees that they have a problem with acne, it is important for them to seek acne medications to combat this problem early so that there are no long-lasting effects from the acne.

One factor that can cause acne in girls is their periods. This is a time when hormones are really active and this can cause problems in most pre-adolescent girls. There are many acne medications that can treat this problem and make their skin look perfect again over time. It will take a while for the skin to clear up and return to normal.

Pregnancy and birth control pills are another reason why women get acne. When a woman is pregnant, this is a time when her hormones change and different things happen to her body. Birth control pills are another source that causes women to develop acne problems and have to resort to acne medications.

Certain medications that people must take can also cause acne in certain people. This is normally normal and can affect almost anyone. If the body accepts the drugs, the acne usually stops or at least decreases. There are acne medications to help when this is the case.

Certain substances can also cause acne. Wearing tight collars, backpacks, and hats can cause acne on any part of the body. That's another factor; acne can occur on any part of the body. It's not just limited to the face. When acne appears on different parts of the body, you may be able to control it with over-the-counter medications or see a doctor for your acne medication.

There are many myths about acne, such as chocolate or fatty foods. However, there are no actual links to these rumors and it has not been proven. In some cases, however, a person's diet will affect their skin and so it's important to have a healthy, balanced diet so that you don't need acne medications in the future.

What is acne and who gets acne?

Acne mainly occurs when the pores of our face become clogged with whiteheads, blackheads or nodules such as cysts or nodules. Acne appears on the face, neck, chest, shoulders, back and upper arms. It's common in teens, but adults up to the age of 40 can experience acne. It is not at all dangerous to health, but it causes impurities on the body, which in turn is very irritating. Acne causes scars that are often permanent.

Acne does not depend on race, ethnicity, skin color or gender. Nearly 100% of people in the age group of twelve to seventeen have occasional blackheads, whiteheads or pimples. Most of these young people can solve this problem with non-prescription drugs. For some, the problem is serious and needs professional care. About 40% of adolescents and teenagers suffer from serious problems that require the help of a doctor to heal.

When does it start?

Acne strikes between the ages of ten and thirteen. The condition lasts for the next five to ten years. It normally disappears in their early twenties, although it can stay until someone is in their late twenties, thirties, or even later. There have been instances where people start to get acne well into adulthood.

Men or women?

There is no concrete evidence to show whether men or women are more prone to acne. But young men are more prone to the different forms of acne than women. In men, acne is much more serious and really lasts longer than in women. Despite this, men don't visit the dermatologist as often as they should.

Young women usually have intermittent acne. This is caused by hormonal changes related to the menstrual cycle. Acne can also be caused by the use of cosmetics without knowing whether they are suitable for the specific skin type or not. This type of acne can occur in women well into adulthood.

Where do they occur?

Acne is most common on the face, but also occurs on the chest, back, shoulders, scalp, neck, upper arms and legs.

Consequence

Acne may seem very trivial, but you will be surprised to know that it also has an economic impact. About a hundred million dollars a year is spent on non-prescription drugs that most teens buy to get rid of acne. This amount does not include the money spent on the cleansers and soaps made to fight acne. In addition, one should visit the dermatologist and buy the drugs that he has prescribed. This also needs money.

You have found out that you are not alone in suffering from this problem. A careful skin cleansing regime must be followed to have healthy skin.
